Request a Drupal site

About Site Requests

Web Services builds Drupal sites for Appalachian State University's academic departments, academic programs, and administrative divisions. To request a new Drupal site, complete the form below.

Web Services is currently prioritizing migration of existing Drupal sites to the new version of Drupal and may not be able to fulfill all requests for new sites. When we receive new site requests, we consider:

  • Purpose and scope: We prioritize requests for academic department, program, and administrative division sites as well as sites that support the university's mission and strategic initiatives and sites that serve a large audience.
  • Availability of other web hosting services: Appalachian offers several other web hosting services for other user groups and needs, including: phpWebSite and AppSync for programs, units, and student clubs in the Division of Student Development; AsULearn for web-based instructional media or course websites; Google Sites and WWW server hosting for personal websites and student or faculty groups and projects; and Qualtrics for online surveys.
  • Timeline: We build new sites only when we are on schedule with planned migrations, and we may not be able to fulfill requests that are exceptionally time-consuming (e.g., requests for custom programming) or time-sensitive (e.g., a site for an upcoming conference).
  • Content readiness: Web Services will only begin building a site when all content, including text for all pages and any media (images, embedded video) is sent to
Site Details
Enter the name of the department, program or administrative unit for the website.
Enter the desired URL for the website. All new Drupal sites have three-part URLs in this format:
Describe the purpose of the website, the users it will serve, and any special features needed.
If the site needs to be launched by a particular date, please provide the date and reason (e.g., in advance of a major event).
Content and Access
  • Web Services will need all content for your new site before we can begin building the site.  You can send the text, images, and media you would like on the site to or share it with us via Google Drive.
  • People who have completed the Introduction to Drupal training can be granted editing access to the new site after it launches.
  • We are not able to provide empty/blank sites. If you prefer to build your own site, please consider Google Sites or the WWW server.
